It is the Indian Wells Masters, also called “the” Indian Wells Open. BNP Paribas Open is a tennis tournament that occurs annually usually played between the months of early to mid-March. The owner of the tournament is Larry Ellison, co-founder and executive chairman of Oracle. The tournament director is a former world No. 2 player Tommy Haas. The event is one of the Masters 1000 events on the men’s tour. It is a WTA 1000 event on the women’s tour.
WTA Indian Open Details:
In 1974-76, it was a non-tour event, and from 1977 and 1989. It was an event of the Grand Prix Tennis Tour. The tournament was described as one of only two events on the tour. Along with the Miami Open in addition to the Majors where the main draw plays extend over eight days.
Both finals take place on the Sunday of the next week. The singles main draws comprised of one hundred players on a 128-player grid. With 32 seeded players receiving an exemption (a free entry) for the second round.
