The 2023 Laureus World Sports Awards, which will be held on May 8 in Paris, France, will have a lot of Olympic-themed events. Many of the Olympians who have been nominated have made a strong case to be chosen as award winners.
The past year is due to the fact that the awards ceremony honors the world’s greatest athletes and teams as well as the inspiring power of sport. Olympics.com conducts a rule check on the Olympic nominees in each category prior to the ceremony.
In several award categories, 19 Olympians are among the nominees. That includes Rafael Nadal, Mikaela Shiffrin, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, all of whom have won multiple gold medals.

- football legend Lionel Messi,
- Spain’s tennis hot-shot Rafael Nadal.
World Breakthrough of the Year :
- Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina,
- American figure skater Nathan Chen,
- Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan.
World Comeback of the Year :
- Dutch road cyclist Annemiek Van Vleuten,
- 1500m runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen,
- basketball star Klay Thompson featuring.
World Action Sportsperson of the Year :
- Team USA Beijing 2022 snowboard star Chloe Kim,
- People’s Republic of China freeskier Ailing (Eileen) Gu,
- surfer Stephanie Gilmore,
- Brazilian skateboarder Rayssa Leal.
