24 teams compete to win the famous trophy. The third-oldest football competition in the world is called the Durand Cup. It was first hosted by the Indian Armed Forces. It was first played in Shimla year 1888.

The Durand Cup 2023 has increased the number of teams with the previous edition. And there are 5 services team from various countries India, Nepal, and Bangladesh will play in this new edition. It is the first-time foreign team participating in this tournament after 27 years.
These teams are divided into six groups with four in each group. It has six group winners. The best second will be placed in the knockout stage. Teams from the Indian Super League, as I League. The Armed Forces are represented on this year’s squad.
Bangladeshi and Nepalese forces are included in the cup. There are six groups of four teams each made up of 24 teams. Each group’s top two finishers advance to the knockout rounds.

Imphal was considered a host city. Due to some Manipur issues. Guwahati is to be considered as a set of replacements. There are a total of 43 matches across 3 cities such as Kolkata, Guwahati, and, Kokrajhar.
