AFCON 2024 Prize Money: The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations commonly referred to as AFCON began on January 13, 2024, in Ivory Coast, check the complete schedule. Although it is being held in 2024 the football competition is referred to as 2023 AFCON for sponsorship reasons since it was postponed by the officials twice during the peak COVID-19 situation. There will be 24 teams participating in the group stage between 13th January to 24th January 2024. These teams have been divided into groups of 6, namely, Groups A, B, C, and D. After which only 16 teams, that is 4 teams from each group will advance to Round 16. As we know this is a football competition between different countries of the African continent, the teams will be rewarded for their performances by receiving prize money already set by the officials ahead of the competition. This year the prize pool is set to be USD 15 Million, which is going to be generously distributed amongst teams as per the distribution standards.

The Winning team will receive a whopping sum of money which is USD 7 million whereas the runner-up will receive a total of USD 4 Million. Below is the division of this prize money between the teams.

What are the teams of AFCON 2024?

As we mentioned 24 teams will be participating in the 34th edition of the AFCON tournament. Here is a list of all the teams from the African continent that you will see participating. The most successful of the teams is Egypt winning seven times and the defending champion of the tournament is Senegal.
