In the India vs. England Test series, 22-year-old batting pro Yashasvi Jaiswal leads all scorers with 421 runs. In 2024, he will have already blasted 23 sixes, trailing just Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. In every Test match against England, Jaiswal has routinely amassed more than fifty runs, including two double-hundreds. Additionally, he eclipsed Virat Kohli’s record of 655 runs in a 2016 series against England. In the bilateral series, Jaiswal is expected to break records.

As the leading run scorer in the ongoing Test match between India and England, Yashasvi Jaiswal is creating waves with his powerful and skillful batting. Having already hammered 23 sixes in 2024, he is on track to shatter multiple records at the young age of 22. The number of sixes a hitter hits in a calendar year of Test matches is one such record.

Jaiswal is lagging behind Ben Stokes (2022) with 26 sixes and Brendon McCullum (2014) with 33 sixes. In this aspect, he’s superior to prominent batsmen like Rishabh Pant, Virender Sehwag, and Adam Gilchrist.

The second inning in Rajkot, where he tied Wasim Akram’s record of 12 sixes in a Test inning, was the pinnacle of his six-hitting rampage. In addition to his ability to hit for six, Jaiswal has routinely amassed over fifty runs in every Test match against England, including two series-long double hundreds. He is in a position to potentially break the record for most runs in a bilateral series, with one test remaining in Dharamshala.

He tied Virat Kohli’s record of 655 runs in a series against England in 2016 during the fourth Test at Ranchi. Jaiswal has also eclipsed the totals recorded by Rahul Dravid against Australia and England. He now has his sights set on Sunil Gavaskar’s landmark runs against the West Indies and Virat Kohli’s 692 runs against Australia in 2014–15.
