During a Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and Tasmania at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Australian cricketer Will Pucovski was hurt after a bouncer struck him in the head. Riley Meredith was a fast bowler, and he hit Pucovski squarely in the helmet with a short ball that he failed to see.

Before receiving medical attention, he appeared to be in discomfort and collapsed to the ground. Pucovski was able to leave the pitch shortly after, although he was injured and had to leave the game without scoring.

Campbell Kellaway will replace Pucovski for the duration of the game due to a concussion on Victoria’s team. Pucovski has experienced concussions in the past during his career; this is not the first time.

In a game against South Australia earlier in January, he took a blow to the helmet but was able to play on after clearing a concussion test. Pucovski overcame all obstacles to score his sixth first-class century later, in a game against New South Wales.

Despite suffering from around twelve concussions, Pucovski has only participated in one Test match for Australia because of his injuries and mental health problems. He emphasized that while there has been worry about concussions, he has had greater challenges related to his mental health.

Pucovski took a mental health leave of absence from cricket in October 2022, but he returned to the game this Australian summer with an emphasis on conquering his mental health issues rather than worrying about concussions.
