Vidarbha defeated Madhya Pradesh by 62 runs in a crucial semifinal match, moving on to face Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy final. Aditya Thakare and Yash Thakur’s outstanding bowling on the final day of the match proved crucial in stopping Madhya Pradesh’s run chase and leading to victory.

Madhya Pradesh, the 2021–22 Ranji champions, needed 93 runs more to win at the beginning of the day, but they were dismissed for 258. Their loss means they will not be able to compete for the championship in the grand final.

The bowlers from Vidarbha used the conditions of play in the morning to cause serious issues for the batsmen of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh had little chance of a comeback because key players like Anubhav Agarwal and Kumar Kartikeya were out for zero.

Vidarbha’s bowlers kept up their pace and secured a stunning victory despite some opposition from their lower batting order. With two victories in the tournament, the squad, captained by Akshay Wadkar, rejoiced as they advanced to the Ranji final for the third time.

Vidarbha is now getting ready for what should be an entertaining final that begins on March 10 against Mumbai, who have won the Ranji Trophy 41 times.

Players from Vidarbha, including Aman Mokhade, Yash Rathod, and Akshay Wadkar, made significant contributions to the match, establishing a 321-run victory target. Even with the best efforts of Yash Dubey and Harsh Gawali from Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha’s bowlers under Thakur and the spinners Aditya Sarwate, Akshay Wakhare, and Thakare prevailed to secure the victory.
