Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan made an exciting return to the professional cricket scene at the 18th DY Patil T20 Cup in 2024. In a thrilling match, DY Patil Blue was unable to overcome Tata Sports Club despite his heroic attempts. At the DY Patil Ground in Talegaon on Wednesday, DY Patil Blue lost by a mere run, but they were near victory most of the time.

Meanwhile, at the DY Patil Stadium in Nerul, another thrilling game was in progress. With just two deliveries left, Canara Bank defeated Bank of Baroda by a margin of two wickets to win.

The 18th DY Patil T20 Cup 2024 featured two teams, DY Patil Blue and Tata Sports Club, who competed in thrilling cricket matches. Canara Bank emerged victorious over Bank of Baroda, securing a two-wicket victory.

Tata Sports Club chose to bat first in the Talegaon encounter and amassed a respectable 185 for 9 in their 20 overs. A crucial part was played by Apoorva Wankhede, who struck an innings-high 83 off 42 balls in addition to making a rapid 51 off 29 balls. Chinmay Sutar contributed as well. Vipul Krishnan was the most impressive bowler for DY Patil Blue, returning figures of 4-42, with Ajay Singh providing solid support with 2-32.

The chase by DY Patil Blue got off to a good start when openers Abhijit Tomar and Shikhar Dhawan put up a strong 64-run partnership. Dhawan set the tone with his 39 off 28 balls, but even with incredible efforts from Shubham Dubey and Nutan Goel, the team was bowled out short at 184 for 7. While now playing for Blue, former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik made an important catch behind the wickets but could not contribute with the bat.

In the other game, Rohan Kadam’s incredible 76-n-out helped Bank of Baroda set a goal of 151 for 8. Pallav Kumar Das (31) and MG Naveen (unbroken 47) led Canara Bank’s chase, which ended with just two balls left at 152 for 8, the target. Manoj Bhandage, the leading bowler for Canara Bank, finished with a 3-34 score, while K Gowtham and Kushang Patel of Bank of Baroda claimed the most wickets.

Canara Bank defeated Bank of Baroda 152-8 in 19.4 overs at Navi Mumbai DY Patil Stadium, while Tata Sports Club defeated Bt DY Patil Blue 184-7 in 20 overs at Talegaon’s DY Patil Ground. Both teams scored two wickets in their respective matches.
